HARDSCAPE CREW LEADER

As a hardscape crew leader, you’ll be responsible to train and lead teams in installation of paver patios, natural stone, and segmental block retaining walls. You’ll also serve as a liaison between customers and coworkers, including management and design staff, while maintaining a professional, helpful, friendly attitude.

Qualifications

  • Ability to read landscape designs
  • Ability to install landscape features
  • 3+ years of experience in hardscape materials and installation
  • Ability to work outdoors and lift up to 50 pounds
  • Experience operating heavy equipment including Bobcat, Dingo, forklifts, and tillers
  • Knowledge of grading and elevation
  • Attention to detail
  • Leadership skills
  • Professional image
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Ohio driver’s license with clean driving record (CDL a plus)

  • Valid Ohio driver’s license with clean driving record (CDL a plus)

As a Berns crew member, you’ll be responsible to install landscaping as directed, work efficiently, and maintain a professional, helpful, friendly attitude.

GARDEN CENTER OPPORTUNITIES

Berns Garden Center is looking for friendly, active and energetic plant enthusiasts to join the Berns Garden Center Spring 2019 team!

Retail: Berns Garden Centers: Interviews for retail positions will begin Mid-March. Please fill out an application if interested in a retail position, but understand we will not be setting up interviews until then. Applications can be found on our website or you can pick one up at your local Berns Garden Center.

Cashier: This position is responsible for producing accurate, balanced register drawers and maintaining a smooth checkout system while also providing competent and exceptional customer service.

Annuals Sales Associate: This position is responsible for the daily care of all annual plants and maintenance of the annual plant sales area while providing knowledgeable assistance and service to customers.

Perennial Sales Associate: This position is responsible for the daily care of all perennial plants and maintenance of the perennial plant sales area while providing knowledgeable assistance and service to customers.

Nursery Team Sales Associate: This position is responsible for providing knowledgeable assistance to customers, creating maximum nursery sales and profitability and assisting with the organization and display of nursery products.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Honest, reliable, friendly and willing to learn
• Energetic and hard working/ able to work with the public
• Available to work weekends
• Willing to get dirty, lift, and tolerate the weather conditions
• Appropriate appearance is a key factor in creating and maintaining a favorable image. All Garden Center and Landscape employees are required to wear a company shirt or sweatshirt to work each day. If your shirts are faded, torn, or stained please replace them as necessary. All pants must be neat and not have any holes, tears or patches. You may wear blue jeans or tan color long pants or Capri style pants. Shorts can be worn provided they are tan or khaki in color. However, all shorts must have a hem and be 6″ or longer. All employees are required to wear closed toe shoes or boots. You are not permitted to make modifications to the company uniform.

High Schoolers: High school applicants please note that you must be at least 16 years of age as of March 1, 2019.
