POLLINATORS

WHY PLANT FOR POLLINATORS?

When you plant for Pollinators, you are helping our ecosystem. Pollinators improve the health of all plants, cultivated and wild, and, in turn, they support all wildlife and human beings, supplying us with food, habitat and a livable planet.

WHO ARE POLLINATORS?

In Ohio, the primary pollinators are native bees, honeybees, wasps, flies, butterflies, and hummingbirds. Sometimes beetles and other insects perform this important duty, too.

PLANT FOR POLLINATORS

Most of us have heard about the decline in pollinator populations over the last decade. And it really is an area of growing concern. Many scientists believe weโ€™re quickly approaching a crisis.

While thereโ€™s much debate over chemical use and its effects on bees, butterflies, wasps, hummingbirds, and their relatives, thereโ€™s an even simpler reason for pollinator decline: a lack of habitat and food sources.
